ABOUT US
At Second United Presbyterian Church we gather to worship, study and serve because we believe that God loves us, cares for us, and wants us to live our lives enjoying God and one another. We believe that God's Son, Jesus Christ, came into the world to show us that astonishing and forgiving love of God, and to teach us to love others by following the teachings and imitating the life of Jesus who we call Lord and Savior. We look to the Bible as the unique and authoritative witness to who God and Jesus Christ are, and to learn what is required in gratitude from us in this life. We believe that there is eternal life with God beyond this earthly one.
OUR STORY
Second Presbyterian Church moved into its current building in 1915. Because the church is located in a very diverse neighborhood, the members and leaders have worked at remaining responsive to the neighborhood's changing needs. In 2005, the Reverend Deb Warren became the first woman pastor to serve this congregation.
WHAT WE DO
We gather in love and fellowship to learn, worship, serve others, and enjoy the unique gifts that God has given to each one of us. We reach out to others in order to make the circle of caring larger and more inclusive.
OUR COMMUNITY
We are blessed to live in a community that touches the city of Pittsburgh in Regent Square, Edgewood, Swissvale and Wilkinsburg. This is a multicultural, integrated community with folks of all ages, including many young families, students, and international residents.
